On Giving

Last Sunday, the service at church was about EXTREME GENEROSITY.

God is so rich. He owns the universe, the planets, all things here on earth. Yet, he chose to be poor and died for us, the undeserving ones. Was it beneficial for him? No. It was all for us, it was extreme generosity.

Sometimes, we give only when we know we’ll get something in return. We set some kind of a requirement: “I’ll give you this but you have to give me something as well”, “I can help you with that as long as you do this for me too.”

But is that how we should be? Is that being generous in the eyes of God? Last Sunday, I was reminded that I own nothing. I do not own any of my phones, my money, my clothes, even my resources. I do not own anything for all that I have, all that we have, is God’s.

And when we all really understand that by heart; it won’t be so hard to give. It won’t be so hard to give to the poor or to the needy. It won’t be so hard to give… even when we get nothing in return.

God bless you!
